About Luca Pianca:
Born in Lugano, Switzerland. Musical studies in Milan and Salzburg (with Nikolaus Harnoncourt). In 1982, he Begins his collaboration with the "Concentus Musicus Wien", which still runs nowadays. Co-founder of "Il Giardino Armonico", leading ensemble performing italian baroque.Collaborations with singers such as Eva Mei, Christoph Prégardien, Georg Nigl, Marie-Claude Chappuis, Cecilia Bartoli and instrumentalists like Viktoria Mullova and Albrecht Mayer,who called him "my musical brother", among many others. He recorded over 70 cd's , including complete lute works by J.S.Bach and A.Vivaldi. Very prolific duo activity with viola da gamba virtuoso Vittorio Ghielmi and russian violinist Dimitri Sinkovsky,touring regularly all over Europe and Usa. He has played in the most important festivals,theaters and concert seasons as a soloist or continuo player. (Salzburg,Schleswig Holstein,Mito,Wiener Festwochen,Deutsche Philharmonie, Theater an der Wien, Wigmore Hall, Lucerne Festival, Lincoln Center,Carnegie Hall in New York, Oshi Hall in Tokyo). Sir Simon Rattle invited him to perform with Berliner Philarmoniker (Bach- St,John Passion). He won several times major recording prices (Grammophone Award, Choc du Monde de la Musique, Echo-Preis, Deutsche Schallplattenpreis, 5 times Diapason D'Or, the last one in 2018 with the duo cd "Anime Amantii" featuring italian soprano Roberta Mameli). Since 2008 he is conducting the Bach-Cycle at the "Konzerthaus" in Vienna, performing the complete Bach Cantatas with his own "Ensemble Claudiana" and the "Wiener Sängerknaben", involving star singers and young talented musicians : over 100 Cantatas have been already performed. Christmas Oratorio and St.John-Passion were important achievements. He has also collaborated with rock-icon Sting.
